Busby Named As New Scotland Manager16 January 1958, 19:23 Manchester United's manager Matt Busby has been named as the manager of the Scottish national side. The Scottish selectors are believed to have met with Busby to discuss the position when England and Scotland met recently at Under-23 level in Liverpool. Busby will be in charge for this summer's World Cup finals in Sweden, for which the Scots, along with England, Wales and Northern Ireland, have already qualified. It means that Busby may well find himself pitting wits against Jimmy Murphy, his assistant manager at Manchester United, who is in charge of Wales.
