United Concerned Over Red Star's Pitch4 February 1958, 14:11 United players visiting the Stadium of the Partisan Army today were not impressed by the state of the pitch.  United's squad getting in some final practice in Belgrade. There has been a good deal of snow recently in Belgrade, though the team had been training away from the stadium, and were not aware of the fact that the snow was almost covering the pitch. Although a slight thaw is setting in, this is of little comfort to the Reds, who are concerned that as the snow melts, the pitch could turn into a quagmire. United's players are on a bonus of £30 per man to qualify for the next round. The Red Star players, who are officially amateurs, are reputed to be on a bonus of £50 per player.
