Viollet, with his electric pace and sublime dribbling skills, is in many ways the ideal attacking foil for the aerial power of Tommy Taylor.

While his best position is up-front, as his scoring record clearly shows, he also has the intelligence, perception and passing ability to occupy a deeper role behind the main forwards.

Given Viollet's obvious rapport with his team-mates, it remains a mystery as to how he manages to continually avoid the England selectors' attention, especially since Taylor is being picked regularly.
