Bill Foulkes has a reputation as the sort of man you can rely on. When things get tough, he'll never moan or complain, but just gets on with it, working harder and harder until the job's done.
For the first few years of his United career, for example, the hard-tackling full-back kept up his day job as a mineworker. And on the rare occasions that Matt Busby decides to give his place in the team to someone else, Foulkes simply grits his teeth and puts more effort into training so that he'll be ready when the inevitable recall occurs.
